Eric Marciano, Director/Producer (continued)
Mr. Marciano has recently completed the documentary, "When Someone Dies: Understanding Grief". "I always go into any film project fairly open-minded and naïve, trying to approach from as fresh a perspective as possible. Death is such a huge subject, a vast concept to humanity. It had to be handled carefully and with respect. I came away from the project humbled".
All of his film making skills came into play. From finding people to discuss their intimate and personal stories of grieving to finding the appropriate visual tone to finding the right music to enhance their stories. From the response to the film it appears that Mr. Marciano has continued his tradition of making thoughtful award-winning films.
His previous educational documentary work and awards include Telly awards for "Emotion and Pain: Understanding Self-Injury"; "Bullying: You Don't Have to Take It Anymore" and "Artificial Athletes: The Dangers of Steroids". Gold Aurora Awards for "Emotion and Pain: Understanding Self-Injury", "Bullying: You Don't Have to Take It Anymore". The Award of Excellence from the Society of Technical Communication for "Beyond the Looking Glass: Self-Esteem and Body Image"; the Bronze Award from the 43rd Columbus Film Festival for "When Food Becomes an Obsession: Overcoming Eating Disorders"; and the 1997 Best Documentary, Northampton Film Festival for "Farewell to Bosnia, Part One" and "Latin American Women Artists 1915-1995."
